Project Management Groups

Design Services is Capital Projects Office’s in-house design group operating on a fee for service basis.
The multi-disciplinary group of architects, engineers, designers and managers provides a full range of professional design services to all University departments and campuses.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Central Campus Project Group manages projects involving the College of Arts and Sciences, Recreational Sports Programs, Intercollegiate Athletics, College of Engineering, College of Architecture and Urban Planning and other customers primarily located in the East, Central, West and Southwest campus

South Campus Project Group manages both major and minor projects with special emphasis on Health Sciences and Academic Medical Centers, the Tacoma Campus and projects at University Out-Stations.

Special Projects Group (SPG) manages projects with areas of emphasis outside medical and athletic programs and a total cost of less than $5 million. The Special Projects Group is charged with identifying and testing process improvements to foster collaboration and communication, customize service and identify value added improvements which benefit all projects, ensuring budgets, schedules and University standards are met. This group works closely with Design and Planning Services.

Small Projects Delivery Team    Within the Special Project Group, there is a highly trained team of professionals making up the Small Projects Delivery Team. The mission of this team is to develop a program in which smaller projects can be accomplished in the most efficient and economical methods, while meeting the standards of the University and insuring satisfactory results for our clients.  This CPO team is made up of architects, engineers, project managers, construction managers and estimators. Its focus is on projects valued between $35,000 to approximately $300,000. working closely with the Alterations Unit of the Facilities Services Department and other campus groups, a major goal is to improve project delivery. When appropriate, Job Order Contracting and the Small Works Roster are utilized, taking advantage of all methods of contracting available to the University.  Using a team approach, the CPO Small Projects Delivery Team ensures that quality, schedule and budget criteria are met. They are constantly looking for ways to simplify processes and thereby ensuring lower project costs.

Planning Services:
The campus architectural adviser, University landscape architect and environmental planner provide design guidance, technical expertise, both long range and site planning and permitting and regulatory compliance.

Business Services staffs Project Tracker, CPO Intake, provides estimating, project accounting, contracts and project control services.
