PROJECT MANAGEMENT SERvices
Project Managers organize and administer the project from conception to completion. Project Managers work closely with Construction Managers to insure projects are on time and within budget.
They work with design professionals and public works contractors to manage the project through the design and approval process. The Project Manager is the main contact throughout the life of the project. They work with clients to thoroughly understand needs, expectations, resources and constraints. |

Campus coordination is a big part of each project. CPO works closely with staff from Engineering Services, Environmental Health and Safety and Computing and Communications to assure that the design meets the University’s standards for efficient, safe and healthy facilities. For new buildings and major additions, CPO works with the University’s Architectural Advisor, the Campus Landscape Architect, the Architectural Commission, the Campus Landscape Advisory Committee and the SEPA Advisory Committee in reviewing the project. The Board of Regents approve all projects over $5 million.

CPO is responsible for insuring compliance with the University of Washington Master Plans for both the Tacoma and Seattle campuses. These documents contain detailed information about goals and objectives, policies, development programs, the process, and development standards.

The length of time varies for each project due to many factors ranging from the size of the project to the number of regulatory issues involved. CPO helps determine the quickest and least expensive way to achieve a successful project.
Once a project gets started, CPO’s fee generally follows the state Office of Financial Management guidelines based on the project size. Typically the fee ranges from 3-10% of the total project cost. (Larger projects have a lower fee percentage.)
