The Capital Projects Office adheres to strong standards of excellence, we focus on pride in quality, stewardship, long term vision, cooperation with other public authorities and community. Our employees are the key to our success. Employee satisfaction, creative 'can do' attitudes and continuous improvement are competencies we strive to achieve on all projects. The Capital Projects Office is committed to maintain high ethical standards and integrity in all relationships.
Focus on safety is one of the critical components. This focus helps to insure that construction projects progress in an orderly way, meet schedules, stay within budget and ensure continued health and safety of our students, employees, clients and contractors. Continued attention to the safety and well-being of the campus population is a primary goal of CPO. CPO also participates in campus projects supporting emergency preparedness and mitigation.
The Capital Projects Office manages design and construction of new and remodeled University facilities at the Seattle, Tacoma and Bothell campuses and remote facilities. We provide programming, pre-design, cost estimating, design and construction services for building alterations, additions, new construction and grounds improvements. Projects range in size from a few thousand dollars to $100 million and have numbered over 250 in each of the last five years.
The organization is made up of project management groups and an in-house design unit. Project groups are both customer and geographically based. Our professional staff includes architects, engineers, cost estimators, interior designers, move specialists, project controls team (project cost scheduling reporting), a landscape architect, contract specialist, a safety officer and hazmat specialist, an architectural advisor, and an environmental planner. Support is provided by the Attorney General's office and other University departments.
Our projects are also supported by CPO service groups including accounting, information services, contracting, environmental planning, landscaping and architectural advice. The Project Management groups organize and administer the work of outside design consultants and construction contractors and are organized according to project size, specialized need, customer and location on the campus.
