CommitteeSArchitectural Commission The Architectural Commission was established in 1957 by the University Board of Regents. The Commission serves in an advisory capacity making recommendations to the President of the University concerning design consultant selection, historic context and in design review of projects proposed for construction of infrastructure, buildings, site development and landscape projects on all the campuses and field stations. Projects are reviewed by the Commission in predesign and, early and late in schematic design and in design development phases. The Commission is also involved in the review and comment on University master planning and other architectural issues as may arise. The Commission is composed of four design professionals, representatives from the Faculty Senate and Student Government, the University’s Architectural Advisor and a faculty representative from the College of Architecture and Urban Planning who serves as the committee chair. Other ex-officio members include the University Senior Vice President, Associate Vice President for Capital Projects and a representative the University Landscape Advisory Committee. The Commission is represented at all Capital Asset Committee (CAC) meetings of the Board of Regents by the Chair of the Commission in order to respond to questions and comments by the Regents. There are key points when the Commission is involved in projects: consultant selection; predesign; schematic design review; design development review; post construction evaluation; and master planning. The Commission may be asked to consider and comment on specific issues of concern to the University related to architectural, landscape architectural and planning issues effecting the environment of the campus. The Commission meets quarterly on Mondays. Meetings are held at the University Club, unless otherwise noted. The Capital Projects Office provides staff assistance to the Architectural Commission including taking of official minutes, meeting coordination and in preparing official Commission correspondence, BOX 352205, 206 543-5200. 2008 Meeting Schedule
